University of California Summer Bridge Scholarship 2025 – Applications Now Open

The University of California, Irvine (UCI) is currently inviting applications for the 2025 Summer Bridge Scholarship. This opportunity is open to high school seniors preparing to begin their undergraduate studies at UCI in Fall 2025. It is designed specifically for students who are the first in their families to attend college, from low-income households, or who have experienced socio-economic disadvantages.

More than just a summer program, Summer Bridge offers early access to campus resources, meaningful connections with peers and mentors, and significant financial support. Most program expenses will be covered for selected scholarship recipients.

Scholarship Highlights

• Financial support covering $6,531 in program fees (includes housing and tuition)
• Students are only responsible for a $194 campus fee and a $360 USHIP health fee (can be waived)
• Access to a no-cost item loan service (books, laptops, calculators)
• Personalized academic and personal support
• Early course registration for future terms
• Continued mentorship and workshop access during the first year
• Free access to LARC tutorial scholarships

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:

• Be a current high school senior
• Plan to attend UCI in Fall 2025 and have submitted a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR)
• Be a California resident (AB540 and undocumented students are eligible)
• Meet at least one of the following:
  • First-generation college student
  • From a household that qualifies as low-income (via FAFSA or CA Dream Act)
  • Experience of hardship or disadvantaged background

Program Commitments
Selected students must:

• Participate in SPOP 6 (August 1–2) and the FSSP Welcome (August 3)
• Reside on campus (quad occupancy) from July 31 to September 11, 2025
• Enroll in and attend:
  • University Studies 84 (Mondays & Wednesdays, 4–6:50 PM)
  • Sociology 1 (Tuesdays & Thursdays, 1–3:50 PM)
• Attend at least two Faculty Connections and two Collegiate Life events
• Engage in Community Care activities and meet regularly with assigned mentors

Students can apply through their UCI applicant portal after submitting their SIR. Two brief essay responses are required (150–250 words each):

1. Why are you interested in joining the Summer Bridge Program, and how do you expect it to benefit your UCI experience?
2. What aspects of your background make you a strong fit for this opportunity?
