Applications are now open for the DAAD In-Country/In-Region Programme Sub-Saharan Africa 2025, an initiative aimed at strengthening higher education systems in Sub-Saharan Africa and fostering sustainable development. This program provides scholarships for Master’s and PhD studies with a focus on development-related fields, targeting individuals pursuing careers in teaching and research within the region.
Scholarship Benefits
Recipients of this scholarship receive financial support for the full duration of their studies:
- Master’s programmes – up to two years
- Doctoral programmes – up to three years
The scholarship typically covers:
- Monthly stipend
- Funding for research and study expenses
- Support for thesis publication costs
- Tuition fees
Additional benefits for In-Region scholarship holders include:
- Travel allowance
- Health insurance coverage
Eligibility Criteria
This opportunity is open to graduates and postgraduates from Sub-Saharan Africa who meet the following requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree for those applying for a Master’s programme
- A Master’s degree for those applying for a PhD programme
- Interest in studying either in their home country (In-Country scholarships) or in another Sub-Saharan African country (In-Region scholarships)
Female applicants and individuals from underrepresented regions or groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
