CICOPS Scholarships 2026 – University of Pavia for Visiting Scholars

The University of Pavia, in collaboration with EDISU (Institute for the Right to University Education), is offering CICOPS Scholarships for the year 2026. A total of six scholarships are available to visiting scholars from developing countries for research stays ranging from 4 to 12 weeks.

These scholarships are part of an initiative aimed at fostering international academic cooperation by supporting research partnerships between scholars from developing nations and faculty at the University of Pavia.

Scholarship Coverage
The award covers economy-class travel expenses, meals, lodging, a health insurance plan, and a weekly stipend of 150 euros (gross).

Eligibility Requirements

• Applicants must have at least two years of experience in teaching or work with international organizations.
• The opportunity is open to early-career and experienced faculty members from universities or research institutions in developing countries, especially those focusing on development studies.
• The program is intended for short-term research collaboration.
• Individuals currently enrolled in doctoral or postgraduate programs at Italian universities are not eligible.

Selection Criteria

• The academic quality and relevance of the proposed project, particularly if it aligns with ongoing research at the University of Pavia.
• The candidate’s professional background and achievements.
• Geographic and departmental balance among recipients will also be considered.

How to Apply
Applicants are required to upload the following to the online application portal:

1. A CV, preferably in European format, including a list of publications (file name format: Surname_Name_CV)
2. A letter of invitation from the faculty member at the University of Pavia with whom they plan to collaborate (file name format: Surname_Name_Letter)

Only applications with properly labeled documents will be accepted. You should only submit your application once you’ve received the professor’s confirmation. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
