The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) invites qualified Nigerians to apply for its 2025 postgraduate scholarship program. This initiative offers opportunities for Master’s and PhD studies in oil and gas-related disciplines at top-tier institutions in the UK, Germany, France, Malaysia, and Nigeria.
This scholarship aims to enrich Nigerian talent by exposing scholars to advanced academic environments and technical expertise. Benefits include airfare, tuition, insurance, and living allowances.
Important Details for Applicants:
- Applicable for 2025 intake only
- Restricted to PTDF-approved courses and partner universities
- Applicants must choose courses directly related to the oil and gas sector
- Study plans should be consistent with previous academic achievements
- Only one application per candidate is allowed
- Prior recipients of PTDF scholarships are ineligible for reapplication at the same or lower academic level
- Beneficiaries of other scholarships are disqualified
- Academic staff must present proof from their Vice Chancellor confirming no other scholarship is held
Scholarship Streams:
- Global Academic Partnerships: Includes collaborations with universities in the UK, France, Germany, and Malaysia
- PhD Split-Site Program: Conducted jointly at CPESK, Kaduna and selected UK institutions (Robert Gordon University, University of Strathclyde, University of Portsmouth)
- Local Training at CPESK: Designed to domesticate top-tier postgraduate programs within Nigeria

Eligibility Criteria:
- For PhD Applicants:
- Must have completed NYSC
- Must be computer literate
- Must possess five O’level credits (including English and Math)
- A minimum of second-class lower in first degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification
- Submit a research proposal (maximum five pages) relevant to oil and gas
- Must have a verified NIN
- For MSc Applicants:
- At least a second-class upper or a second-class lower with relevant experience
- Completion of NYSC
- Must be computer literate
- Five O’level credits including English and Mathematics
- Submit a statement of purpose (not more than 500 words)
- Must have a verified NIN

- Degree and NYSC certificates
- WAEC/SSCE results with accessible PIN
- Passport photograph
- Local Government Identification
- Master’s certificate (PhD only)
- Evidence of professional body membership
Shortlisted applicants will need to bring their academic transcripts to the interview. Applicants are encouraged to prepare them in advance.
