Applications are currently being accepted for the Fall 2025 session of the Legal Internship Program offered by the Legal Vice Presidency of the World Bank. This opportunity is designed for driven law students who want to learn more about international development law and contribute to the World Bank’s mission.

Through this internship, students will immerse themselves in the legal functions of the organization, working closely with the Legal Vice Presidency team. Interns will assist with legal services, participate in events and workshops, and gain real-world exposure to the operations of a leading global financial institution.

Internships are held three times per year, each lasting a maximum of three months. Most placements take place at the World Bank’s main office in Washington, D.C., with limited positions in regional offices. Students enrolled in legal studies during the internship period are eligible to apply.

What the Internship Offers

This program provides law students with the opportunity to gain professional experience in a highly regarded global institution. It is especially suitable for those seeking academic externships or part-time professional experience. Per U.S. Department of Homeland Security regulations, students approved for pre-completion OPT may work up to 20 hours per week during academic terms.

Who Can Apply

• Applicants must be citizens of an IBRD member country.
• Candidates should be actively pursuing a degree in law (such as LLB, JD, LLM, SJD, or PhD) during the internship period.
• Strong proficiency in English is required.
• Fluency in a second official World Bank language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered an advantage.
• Both domestic and international students are encouraged to apply.
