Afreximbank Group Internship Program 2025 – Applications Now Open

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is now accepting applications for its 2025 Group Internship Programme. This initiative aims to deepen understanding of African trade dynamics, trade finance practices, and the structured trade finance model at the heart of Afreximbank’s operations.

The internship gives outstanding students the opportunity to gain firsthand experience with the bank’s work. Participants are expected to gain a practical appreciation of the bank’s mission, while Afreximbank benefits from the unique ideas and perspectives that interns contribute.

Who Can Apply

The programme is open to:

  • Citizens of Afreximbank member states,
  • Students of African origin living abroad,
  • Non-African students with a strong passion for Africa’s development that aligns with the bank’s goals.

Applicants must be between 20 and 32 years old in the year they apply. They should be currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or postgraduate programme in a recognized academic institution. Fields of interest include economics, law, finance, statistics, engineering, and related disciplines. Proficiency in English or French is essential, and a working knowledge of the other is a plus. Knowledge of Arabic or Portuguese is advantageous.

What’s Provided

Interns are responsible for their own daily living expenses such as meals, transport, and health insurance. However, the bank offers:

  • Coverage of round-trip travel from the intern’s school to the internship location,
  • A monthly stipend of $1,000 and housing allowance of $500 for those relocating from abroad,
  • One week of hotel accommodation with breakfast during the induction phase,
  • Transport between the airport and accommodation,
  • Necessary visa arrangements for the internship duration.
