Fully Funded Shanghai Government Scholarship 2025 at East China Normal University

The Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS) 2025 at East China Normal University (ECNU) is now open for full-time undergraduate applicants. This prestigious scholarship provides financial support to outstanding international students pursuing a degree at one of China’s leading universities. However, certain programs are not eligible, so applicants should carefully review the details before applying.

Eligible Programs

The Shanghai Government Scholarship 2025 at ECNU is available for full-time undergraduate programs except the following:

• 2+2 or 1+3 joint degree programs
• English-taught bachelor’s degree programs
• BA programs under the School of International Chinese Studies
  All other undergraduate programs taught in Chinese are eligible.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Must be a non-Chinese citizen in good health
• Demonstrate strong academic and behavioural records
• Age requirements:
  • Pre-college program: Under 23 years old with a high school diploma
  • Undergraduate program: Under 25 years old with a high school diploma

Language Proficiency Requirements

• Applicants must meet the Chinese language requirements for their chosen major.
• Those with HSK Level 3 can apply for a one-year pre-college program with full scholarship support. However, if they do not meet the language requirements after completing the program, they will continue as Chinese language students.

Scholarship Benefits

The Shanghai Government Scholarship offers two funding options:

Type A – Full Scholarship

• Tuition fees waived
• Free accommodation (shared double room with restroom) or off-campus allowance of 700 RMB/month
• Monthly stipend: 2,500 RMB
• Medical insurance: 800 RMB per year

Type B – Partial Scholarship

• Tuition fees waived
• Medical insurance: 800 RMB per year
