We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Ilia Calderón Scholarship to attend the One Young World Summit 2025. Building on the success of previous editions in 2021 through 2024, One Young World has renewed its partnership with the Jang Calderón Family Foundation. This scholarship is aimed at empowering young Afro-descendant leaders aged 18 to 30 who are making strides with innovative and impactful projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Under this scholarship, two distinguished Afro-descendant leaders will be selected to attend the One Young World Summit 2025 in Munich, Germany, with full funding provided. The award includes comprehensive support, such as:
- Admission to the One Young World Summit 2025 in Munich.
- Private hotel accommodation from November 2 to November 6, 2025.
- Economy class round-trip airfare to and from Munich.
- Coverage of domestic travel expenses to the airport for the international journey.
- Payment of visa fees, if necessary.
- Ground transportation between the hotel and the Summit venue.
- Catering services, covering breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the stay and Summit.
- Translation services from English to Spanish during key events, including plenary sessions, the welcome, and the closing ceremonies.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must be aged between 18 and 30 at the time of the Summit, scheduled to take place in Munich from November 3 to 6, 2025. This scholarship is open to candidates from a range of countries, including Colombia, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Panama, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Guyana, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Brazil.
Candidates will be assessed based on several key factors:
- Their demonstrated commitment to, and the potential benefits they offer to, their communities or regions.
- The relevance and effectiveness of the initiatives they lead or are involved in.
- Evidence of strong leadership qualities.
- Their ability to tackle significant local or global issues.
- A history of generating impactful and innovative ideas.
- A clear, motivated desire to participate in the One Young World Summit.
